Understand when an exact MPN is sufficient for initial review and when ratings, drawings, or a datasheet are essential.
Use the MPN for identity and documents for constraints
The manufacturer part number starts the search, while the datasheet, drawing, and nameplate establish ratings and configuration. For obsolete or replacement requests, send both whenever possible and state which characteristics cannot change.
