What to capture for hydraulic and pneumatic parts

Fluid-power parts combine a manufacturer reference with a set of physical and performance constraints — pressure, flow, port size, stroke, and seal material — that determine whether a replacement will actually work. A hydraulic or pneumatic RFQ is strongest when those constraints travel with the part number.

For pumps, motors, and valves, record the reference plus displacement or flow, rated pressure, port size and thread standard, and the control or spool configuration. Directional and proportional valves in particular depend on spool type and solenoid voltage, so a valve that fits the manifold can still be functionally wrong if those are not specified.

For cylinders and actuators, bore, stroke, rod diameter, mounting style, and cushioning define the fit, while seal and elastomer material determine compatibility with the fluid and temperature. When repairing rather than replacing, a seal kit request should still name the cylinder reference so the correct kit is matched.

Filters and air-preparation parts are defined by rating and connection: micron or beta rating, flow, port size, and bowl or element format. State the medium and the operating pressure so the review can confirm the element and housing match rather than assuming a family equivalent.
